goodbyes are never easy

green gets eaten by brown
a plague has descended

no – that’s just fall. oh.

cool replaces the warmth
hunker down
get out your sweaters

yellows and reds burst forth
party decorations for a last hurrah

a hummingbird buzzes close
and then leaves

in a few weeks, they’ll be gone

a little piece of me dies inside

I didn’t mean to go MIA this summer, but it’s been pretty busy work-wise and I’ve been writing more fiction, than I have been writing poetry. Not necessarily a bad thing. Mourning the end of summer, as per usual. Trying to figure out some health things. Adulting seems hard lately.

flying south

the geese are flying
i watch them pass overhead
they’re heading south for winter
to be somewhere warm instead

i hear them before i see them
honking in the cloud-filled sky
the snap of the air tells them
its that time of the year to fly

my dog Koda woos and barks
when he hears them flying low
they’re heading someplace new now
i look up and watch them go

I accidentally went MIA again…just been busy at work. Everything is just exhausting lately.

Monday-est of Mondays

late for work today

twisted my ankle walking

miserable rain

Forgot to get a post ready last night, sick with bronchitis and a sinus infection, it’s rainy and dark, and turned my ankle walking into work. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญย  I’d like a redo for today, thank you!

New Posts/Poems Coming Every Monday!

Once upon a time, there was a dog who fell in love with a basketball.

He found it one stormy, November day floating in the stream behind his house and claimed it as his own.

Then, for the next nine months, he carried it around the yard everywhere with him. On walks…to go pee…to sniff in the stream for frogs and tasty bits of grass.

…for more on Koda’s basketball, tune in next Monday for a new poem! ๐Ÿ™‚
