in my mind, i fly
long grass on both sides
the black and white cows are silent
they are decor to this
one woman band
barreling her way
over this hill, this curve and the next
until everything within
vibrates
the silos, the grass covered hill,
those trees
that sunlight highlighting
the puffy white clouds
behind the blue
until everything feels too full

Star Night
tonight is a
plunge into a cool pool
that refreshes
the sky, it
sparkles like diamonds
i wish to
pluck one out of the sky
grasp it in my fist
and beg all my wishes
come true
If I knew
if i knew when i was younger
that I would spend so much time
looking back to the days when things were simpler
yearning for it
with an ache that feels like grief
a longing that gnaws
like unsaid words
i might have enjoyed my time more
might have gone to the mall more often
might have told more secrets
got into trouble
if i had known the world doesn’t get any friendlier
that the scariness never really goes away
that i’ll still often feel like that 16-year-old farm girl
dressed in boots, patting cows
looking out across the field at the end of the barn
longing for something exciting to happen
maybe i would have realized sooner
that the stars don’t just fall for anyone
What Happened to the Week?
May is almost here, and the days are flying by like a bird caught in a storm. It’s not been smooth sailing here, unfortunately. Dealing with some mental health issues and with a chocolate lab who is recovering from TPLO surgery and who wants to run and play but can’t. Energy levels have been low.
The sun is out, though, and spring is definitely here! I snapped these on campus the other day. Soo pretty outside!! Annd I’ve included some pictures of poor Koda in his cone. Hopefully, the doctor will give us good news at his check-up next week. ๐
I hope everyone has a good weekend! I hope to post more next week!

Alone
i have this fear
i die alone
i push people away
the judgement
she’s so selfish
he’s not perfect
i pluck them out
like hairs on a head
floating with doubts
and insecurities
4/15/24: Spring is here… but is it really?

Just some Monday morning inspiration. Being self-reliant can be super lonely sometimes, but no one can choose your path for you. Make your own choices and grow. It’s the only way we bloom.
Hah. I’m really loving the Spring puns this morning. Hope everyone has a great week! โค๏ธ๐
Eclipse
a lifetime moment
when the moon comes and takes the
sun’s moment to shine

I meant to post this in the morning today… but I do have an excuse. Drove up to Newport, VT yesterday to view the eclipse and got home 1am last night. ๐ญ๐๐ช๐ด
It was so worth it, though!
Now Posting Monday, Tuesday & Thursdays

Happy Tuesday! I am pivoting and trying something new. I am now going to post (lord willing) Monday and Tuesday mornings, and Thursday afternoon around 1pm.
On Mondays look for some Monday motivation in the form of a quote either about conquering the week, writing or mental health. Most likely…I’ll post a lot about mental health.
Additionally, I’d like to post on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesday mornings look for a poem. (With the exception of today, which I’ll post about 1pm today.)
Thursday afternoons could be a poem, an update about the blog, my day, the writing process…what have you. We’ll call Thursdays miscellaneous day, hah.
I hope everyone has a great week! ๐
Monday in the ER
Hi all, no poetry from me this week because I spent most of my Monday in the Emergency Room.
Everything is okay, but at the time my face and arm was going numb, so that was less okay. I have a muscle strain in my right shoulder that makes me feel like there is an icy-hot poker stabbing at me. That is, when I’m not taking pain meds. Oh, and I have been getting muscle spasms in my neck, too. Fun times.
So, nothing creative from me this week. Or, maybe there is…
Monday in the ER
shoulder hurt, stabbing
pit stop, pit crew, she dying?
safe. home with pain meds
OR
my arm and neck numb
not dying. feel kind of dumb
remember: ergonomic
Ahhh…I could go on and on with the haikus. At least the dogs cuddled me at the end of the night. Showing their love, as doggies do. One big, giant, doggy pile.
